Hyperspace Background

The background during Hyperspace travel.

"You escaped the Rebel fleet via the long-range relay. The ship is accelerated towards the next sector, but additional fuel will be needed to reach top speed."

Captain's Edition changes the way you travel to new sectors. While performing long-range jumps to the next sector you can decide on how much fuel you want to spend during the trip. This will allow you to get an even further head start on the Rebel Fleet or if you are low on fuel it could bring the fleet closer to you.

Standard Long Range Jump

  • "(Basic Engines) Travel at minimum FTL speed to the next sector, using only emergency fuel."
  • "(Standard Engines) Travel at the standard FTL speed to the next sector, using the usual amount of fuel."
  • "(Improved Engines) Spend additional fuel in order to travel at full speed to the next sector."
  • "(Advanced Engines) Override the engines' security protocols. Risk engine degradation by traveling at extremely high speed."
  • "(Highly Advanced Engines) Exceed any safety limits and burn out the engines to travel even faster."
Engine Level Fuel Spent Fleet Delay Damage Taken Engine Damage
(Level 1) Basic Engines 0 -2 0 0
(Level 2) Standard Engines 2 0 0 0
(Level 4) Improved Engines 3 +1 0 0
(Level 6) Advanced Engines 4 +2 4 4
(Level 8) Highly Advanced Engines 5 +4 8 8

Boosted Long Range Jump

"(Advanced Navigation AI) Let the AI handle the hyperspace jump to travel faster."

The Advanced Navigation AI augment optimizes fuel economy for Hyperspace travel; which means less fuel spent for greater speed.

"(Highly Advanced Engines) Perform the ultimate high-speed jump, grinding on the edge of what is physically possible."

If you have the Advanced Navigation AI augment and Level 8 engines then it unlocks a new tier of speed. However this is also the most damaging option.

Engine Level Fuel Spent Fleet Delay Damage Taken Engine Damage
(Level 1) Basic Engines 0 -1 0 0
(Level 1) Basic Engines 1 0 0 0
(Level 2) Standard Engines 2 +1 0 0
(Level 4) Improved Engines 3 +2 4 4
(Level 6) Advanced Engines 4 +4 8 8
(Level 8) Highly Advanced Engines 5 +5 10 8

Boosted + Shielded Long Range Jump

"(Titanium System Casing) Your ship was prepared for this."

The Titanium System Casing augment will negate half of the hull damage sustained during Hyperspace transit.

It should be mentioned that the damage from the Hyperspace jump is applied first, then you are given a blue option to use the Titanium System Casing which then reverses the damage by half. One could exploit this if they were very low on hull points.

For example, if your ship has 1 hull point left and you perform a Level 8 boosted Hyperspace Jump your hull points would be reduced to zero but you can select the Titanium System Casing augment as a blue option after the damage has been applied and then you will have 5 hull points restored.

The Titanium System Casing augment will not protect your Engines from sustaining system damage.
